Trust is the whole point of SkillMela, so here is exactly what we check, how your money is protected and who you're dealing with. Everything on this page is something we actually do.
What's true today
Reviews only from people who bought
Only learners enrolled in a course can review it, once each. Teachers can't edit or remove reviews, and we never pay for them.
Your payment is held until the refund window ends
Teachers are paid only after the course's 7-day or 30-day refund window closes, so refunds never depend on chasing a teacher.
Sahil answers complaints: acknowledged within 48 hours, resolved within 30 days.
What we check before a teacher can sell
- Who they are. We review every application ourselves, talk to the teacher on a call, and confirm their name against a government ID.
- Their real work. Links to their teaching and to work they've done in the field. Follower counts don't get anyone in.
- The course card. Before a course goes live we review what it promises, its level, who it's for and who it isn't for, and how it's delivered.
- Honesty rules. No job or income guarantees, no fake countdowns or "only 2 seats left", no vague promises. These are checked when the course is saved, and again when we review it.
The "Verified on SkillMela" badge means exactly these checks passed. A teacher's trust score is then calculated from what happens on SkillMela (promises kept, questions answered, refunds, reviews), and nobody can pay to change it. We pause courses that break their promises.
How your payment is protected
1. You pay
Through Razorpay's checkout. The course unlocks straight away.
2. We hold it
The teacher's share waits with us until the 7-day or 30-day refund window ends.
3. Teacher is paid
Only then, by bank or UPI, with a statement. Refunds in the window come from what we're holding.
The rules for refunds are on our refund policy, and every course shows its own policy before you pay.
How reviews work
- Only people who bought a course can review it, and only once.
- Reviews show whether each promise on the course card was kept.
- Teachers can't edit, hide or delete reviews. We remove a review only if it breaks the law or our rules (abuse, personal data, spam), never because it's negative.
- We never pay for reviews or ask only happy learners to write them.
